The Mars 2020 Perseverance rover launch period is July 30 - August 15, with the first launch attempt on Thursday, July 30. The trip will take about seven months. Once on Mars, Perseverance will search for signs of past microbial life, characterize the planet's climate and geology, collect samples for future return to Earth, and pave the way for human exploration.
Launch day programming starts at 4 a.m. PDT/7am EDT on July 30. Tune in to watch the live streaming.
